Question by BMWTech: Why do so many people think that all automotive technicians and car dealers are trying to take your money?
I have been in the field at several different shops- independent, Ford, and now BMW. A lot of the post on here are people bashing on car dealers and technicians saying they are trying to take your money. We have to make a living too along with that we are not all shady.. yes i will agree there are some but not near as many as you might thing. Why do people always blame us when something goes wrong on their car after we worked on it even if it is completely unrelated?

Question by Brandon Potts: When buying a car is it better to get financed through a bank or through the dealership?
Ok so I am 17 and trying to buy my first car ( with the help of my mom of course). But she keeps insisting that we got financed through the used car dealership. I am saying that they would try and cheap us out, because they are in it for the money. I suggest going through a bank. But she still says its better through a dealership. Is there really any difference between being financed through a bank and a dealership. Any advice would be nice thanks.

BANK, unless the dealership has a promotional rate like 2.9% or something less than 5%. Really watch out for them adding costs, selling you extended warranty, glass coverage, tire coverage, Lo Jack, undercoating, rust proofing, etc. Shop around for the best interest rate and DO NOT let them sell you anything, including a lease, at the dealership! I worked at a dealership and their motto is “Catch a sucker and tear his head off.” No kidding.

i want to start a mobile car wash and i want to know how often car dealers wash new cars,their is about 7 car dealerships within five minute from my apartment.how much should i charge and what equipment i need and is it good business idea——sorry about my english is not my first language

Once or twice a week, depending on the weather. I am in the Bay Area in CA. You need a truck, tanks, filters, pump, and chamois and 2 or 3 employees. I don’t know what to charge, depends on your area.

I’m looking for reviews online on car dealerships and some places I’m interested in, can’t currently find reviews regarding the dealership. What are some of the warning signs that a dealership may be scums/crooks?
